Grim Reality: UN Report Reveals 783 Million Hungry as One-Fifth of Global Food Supply Goes to Waste
The latest findings from the UN Environment Programme’s Food Waste Index Report 2024 have laid bare the staggering scale of food wastage worldwide. According to the report, a staggering 1.05 billion tonnes of food were squandered in 2022 alone, with approximately 19 percent lost at retail, food service, and household levels. This wastage is compounded by an additional 13 percent lost in the supply chain, from post-harvest to the point of sale, as estimated by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

KVK Delhi Organizes 3-Day Skill Development Training Program on 'RPL Gardener'
Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in Ujwa, Delhi, recently concluded a comprehensive three-day skill development training program on "RPL Gardener" from March 28th to March 30th, 2024. This initiative, by the guidelines set forth by the Indian Skill Development Council (ISDC) and the National Skill Development Council (NSDC), aimed at harnessing the potential of agricultural workers by recognizing Prior Learning (RPL) and providing them with necessary training and certification. The primary objective was to augment the existing skills of farmers and agricultural laborers, ultimately enhancing their income prospects.

ICRIER Study Offers Insights to Boost Farmers' Income through Livestock, Fisheries, and Improved Market Access
A recent study led by renowned agricultural economist Ashok Gulati, in collaboration with three other researchers, has shed light on significant opportunities for enhancing farmers' incomes in India. Titled "New Deal for Agriculture for Viksit Bharat@2047," the study, published by the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), offers valuable insights and recommendations aimed at benefiting farmers while minimizing costs to the economy at large.
