  • Union Minister of Petroleum calls for launching a campaign for making users aware of the benefits of LNG  

    Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Steel Dharmendra Pradhan has called upon the various stakeholders in the LNG sector to mount a campaign to make people/users aware of the benefits of this fuel.  

    Addressing a webinar on “LNG as a Transport Fuel” here today, he said that LNG is a fuel of the future, and its cost-benefit and other advantages over other fuels must be communicated in an aggressive and specific manner. He said that less cost of the LNG will attract the bulk and large consumers if the message reaches them properly. 

  • Apply online for Haj 2021 from Nov 7 to Dec 10 

    The Haj Committee of India has issued the action plan for Haj pilgrimage 2021 with precautionary measures in place due to coronavirus pandemic. The guidelines will be issued soon. The online application process for Haj 2021 will start on November 7 that will continue till December 10. The last date to submit the medical certificate is January 1, 2021. 

    According to the action plan, the last date to deposit the first instalment of the fee will be March 1, 2021, while the last date for the same will be April 30, 2021. 

  • High Court upholds appointment of Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta 

    In a major reprieve to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Dinkar Gupta, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday upheld his appointment. The court allowed an appeal by the state against Central Administrative Tribunal's (CAT) orders. The CAT on January 17 set aside the appointment of Gupta as it allowed the application challenging his appointment by his seniors in service i.e. Siddharth Chattopadhyay and Mohammad Mustafa. 

  • Justice Sanjay Kumar Medhi, Nani Tagia, Manish Choudhury appointed as Judges of Gauhati High Court 

    The President in the exercise of the power conferred by clause (l) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, has appointed Justice Sanjay Kumar Medhi, Justice Nani Tagia, and Justice Manish Choudhury, the additional Judges of the Gauhati High Court, as Judges of the Gauhati High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices. 

  • Unnao case: Delhi HC admits Sengar's appeal against conviction 

    The Delhi High Court on Friday admitted an appeal filed by disqualified UP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar against his conviction in a case relating to the custodial death of the Unnao rape victim's father. 

    A single-judge bench of the high court presided by Justice Vibhu Bakhru admitted the appeal filed by Sengar through advocate Kanhaiya Singhal, wherein he has challenged the trial court's order convicting him and others in the case of the custodial death of the Unnao rape victim's father. 

  • Missed Call Do, Kahaani Suno programme launched by Pratham Books 

    With schools remaining closed for nearly seven months due to Covid-19 pandemic, Bengaluru-based not-for-profit Children Book publishing house 'Pratham Books' has relaunched its famous "Missed Call Do, Kahaani Suno!" programme. 

    With the help of Cognizant Foundation's support, the education programme will enable access to quality education to the students from underserved communities. The foundation has adopted Scholarship for higher education, Digital learning, STEM and Vocational-Technical education as its focus areas in Education.
