IMD Predicts Heavy Rains in Theses States till 12th Sep
The India Meteorological Department predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in different parts of the country till 12th September (Monday). States, which are likely to witness heavy rains, are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh & Odisha. IMD said that the rainfall is likely to increase from 12th September over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Odisha from 11th September & over Telangana, Chhattisgarh & Bengal.

The ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha inaugurated the First Ornamental Aquaculture Field School of Odisha at the farm of Rajesh Ranjan Mohapatra of Kochila Nuagaon Village, Tangi Choudwar Block, Cuttack District.

Farmers of Karnal continue to Sit-in Protest at Mini Secretariat
On 8th September (Wednesday), the farmers have continued to sit in protest at the Mini secretariat in Karnal, Haryana. The farmers held a March & gheraoed mini secretariat on 7th September (Tuesday) over the 28th August lathi-charge incident. The farmers have been demanding immediate actions against the former Karnal SDM Ayush Sinha, who was asking the police personnel to smash the head of the protesting farmers on 28th August. Also, the governments of Haryana have suspended mobile internet & SMS service in the district to prevent disturbance to the peace & public order.

Wheat Purchase Raised by 2%, lowest in a Decade
The Centre has raised a price, to buy new- season wheat from the farmers by 2% the lowest in a decade to Rs 2,015 per 100kg. The country is the world’s 2nd biggest wheat consumer & sets a price each year to protect the farmers from distress sales & to cover the emergency needs. The Centre said that the MSP for mustard seeds has been raised by Rs 400 to Rs 5,050 per quintal for the current crop year. The cost of wheat is estimated at Rs 1,008 per quintal.

Cabinet approves Rs 10,683 crore PLI Scheme for the Textiles Sector
On 8th September (Wednesday), while addressing cabinet briefing, the Union Minister, Anurag Thakur & Piyush Goyal announced that the cabinet has approved a proposal for the production linked incentive scheme for the specific segment in the textiles sector. The decision was taken in a meeting that was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The cabinet has approved the PLI scheme for the textile for MMF apparel, MMF fabrics & ten segments/products of the technical textiles along with a budgetary outlay of Rs.10,683 crore, which will be provided over the 5 years.
