Apiaries aren't about apes at all! Rather, the name comes from the Latin word apis, which means "bee." Nowadays, the apiary is one of that farm-related terminology that is disappearing from our general vocabulary as we abandon the small-farm culture.
Apiaries come in a variety of sizes and can be either rural or urban, depending on the honey production business.
