Cereal Crops are members of the grass family grown for their edible starchy seeds. The most important cereal grains in India are Wheat and Maize, Wheat is a grass widely cultivated for its seed. Wheat cultivation in India has traditionally been dominated by the Northern region of India. The northern states of Punjab and Haryana plains in India have been prolific wheat producers and the other hand Maize is also a cereal crop which yields large grains set on a cob. Maize is known as the Queen of Cereals as it has the highest genetic yield potential among all cereals. In India, Maize is the third most important food crop after Rice and Wheat.
