Disorder

There are several environmental factors that can affect how plants behave. Plants are stressed by poor environmental circumstances, which can result in aberrant development or disease-like symptoms.

To find an effective therapy, the reason for plant symptoms must be determined. Treat plant diseases by altering the circumstances that led to the harm (if possible).

Conditions that cause plant disorders include:

  • Air pollutants
  • Toxic chemicals (including road salt)
  • Pet urine
  • Temperature extremes (hot and cold) or wind
  • Lack of light, water, or soil nutrients
  • People pressures (heavy use, soil compaction)
  • Damage by equipment (e.g., string trimmer damage to trees, mower damage to golf greens)
