Horticulture, at its most basic level, is an art and science of cultivating plants. Horticulture crops include annual and perennial plants, vegetables, fruits, ornamental indoor plants, and landscape plants.
The term is derived from the Latin hortus, which means "garden," and colere, which means "to cultivate." As a broad phrase, it relates to all types of garden management, but in everyday usage, it refers to intensive commercial production.
