Manure

When you apply manure to your vegetable garden, you're providing nutrients that help the soil and plants flourish. For example, the manure may be a mixture of cow dung and straw or barely decomposed chicken excrement. The term "manure" is sometimes used to refer to any type of fertilizer, even ones composed completely of plants. Manure's original meaning was "to cultivate the land," derived from the Old French root word manouvrer, which meant "to labor with the hands or cultivate."
