Open Range

Open range refers to a type of rangeland where livestock, especially cattle, are allowed to freely graze without being confined by fences or restricted by land ownership. In areas where open range is mandated by law, the responsibility for fencing to prevent animals from trespassing on private or public land lies with the landowner, rather than the owner of the animals.
