Sericulture

Sericulture is the process of growing silkworms and harvesting silk from them. The domestic silkmoth caterpillars (also known as 'Bombyx mori') are the most often employed silkworm species in sericulture. Other varieties of silkworms are also cultivated for the manufacture of 'wild silks.'

Sericulture is a strong domestic sector in many nations. India and China are the world's top silk producers. These two countries produce more than 60% of the world's silk.
