2nd edition of Summit on Investing in future through Sustainable water use management in Agriculture will be organized virtually by FICCI on 23rd March 2021. FICCI is committed to work on the development of this sector, considering that freshwater withdrawals are highest by the agricultural sector and water is likely to be a more binding constraint to Indian agriculture than land.
Agriculture is the biggest user of water. Nationally, groundwater contributes up to 62% of water used for irrigation. Alarming rates of ground water depletion deserves urgent attention. So the objective of this initiative is to bring together all key stakeholders to deliberate and suggest a future roadmap on “how water use efficiency and sustainable water use management practices be maximized in Indian agriculture?’’.
Agenda of Summit:
FICCI is focusing its efforts on broadly four initiatives-
-
A national Summit on “Investing in future through Sustainable water use management in Agriculture” on 23rd March.
-
Release of FICCI PwC knowledge Report.
-
A release of compendium on “Best practices in sustainable water use management in Agriculture.
-
Masterclass on Regenerative Agriculture organized to mark World Water Day on 22nd March.
