‘Wayanad Community Seed Fest’, launched in 2015, is a special programme that envisages the continuity of on-farm agrobiodiversity conservation through building networks and partnerships. Wayanad Community Seed Fest 2024 aims to continue the awareness programmes on the importance of healthy seeds and the role of youth in sustainable agriculture.
The Genome Saviours of Wayanad will be felicitated during the fest. This event will be inaugurated by P.A. Mohammed Riyas Minister for Public Works and Tourism, presided by T Siddique, MLA. M S Swaminathan Memorial Lecture will be given by Dr. Soumya Swaminathan Chairperson, MSSRF.
The contributions of Prof. M. S. Swaminathan will be recalled. Seed exchange that ensures seed continuity and on-farm conservation will be the signature event. Seed Fest also forms the platform to exhibit the luxurious agrobiodiversity of Wayanad and will also be an educative programme for farmers, academicians, researchers, students, the general public and other stakeholders.
