Amla also known as gooseberry is a very healthy fruit. Amla is a small and round berry. It has light-green skin, which is almost translucent has thin yellow striations. They are juicy and have a bitter and sour taste. Amla is mostly available during the winter months. 

Generally, consumption of Amla is considered healthy, however, it could also lead to some health-related problems. Let us take a look at some of the issues that consumption of Amla could cause.

Side Effects of Amla consumption of too much Amla can lead to constipation or diarrhea, as it has a high content of fiber in it. Also, consuming Amla during flu is a pretty bad idea, due to the fact that it is a natural coolant and does not exert good effects on the throat and that may lead to a cold. Amla is rich in Vitamin-C which contributes to its acidic nature and consequently leads to hyperacidity. Though it comes out to be a great element for stomach detoxification, however, if you have a history of hyperacidity, then this fruit is not for you.

Amla also affects blood pressure levels in an individual, especially for those who are suffering from hypotension or low-b.p. It is definitely not a good option for diabetic patients. If one takes their daily diabetic medicines then Amla is definitely not beneficial.

Amla reduces the water level in the skin and the body and thus leads to dry skin.

Also, Amla should definitely be avoided during the pregnancy, as it could lead to severe dehydration and could cause serious problems.

Drinking too much Amla juice could lead to a higher amount of Vitamin C in the body, thereby contributing to acid excretion during urination. A higher amount of Vitamin C in the body can also cause an increase in blood vessel elasticity that could be a dangerous problem in people who suffer from blood-clotting issues.
