  • Telangana CM KCR Assures Support for Farmers to Mitigate Crop Losses

    K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), Telangana Chief Minister gave assurance to the farmers of Telangana during the press release that they don’t need to worry about the loss of paddy crops due to the unseasonal rains. The state government will purchase wet paddy at the same price as normal paddy, the chief minister made it clear. He emphasized once more that the Telangana government's goal is to safeguard agriculture and share the struggles of farmers.

     

  • Collector Harinarayanan Emphasizes Mechanization for Farming Communities

    C Harinarayanan, District Collector of Andhra Pradesh has instructed the concerned officials to motivate farmers on adopting farm mechanization to overcome the burden of labour. On Tuesday, a review meeting was also held by him with the agriculture department officials over the PM Kisan Yojana, cropping system, seasonal conditions, YSR Rythu Bharosa, implementation of zero per cent rate of interest, farm mechanization, adoption of drone technology, etc.

     

  • Livestock Farmers Hit by Rains as Price of Dry Fodder Mounts

    Unseasonal rains have taken a toll on the pockets of livestock farmers resulting in a rise in the prices of dry fodder which is being sold at Rs 550-Rs 800 per quintal. Farmers say due to the untimely rain, they have observed a drastic slash in the production of wheat husk, resulting in its shortage. Generally, every acre of harvested and thrashed wheat provides approximately 20 quintals of wheat husk, but now they are getting 12 to 15 quintals per acre of wheat husk due to the lodging of the crops.

     

  • India's Rice Procurement Soars: Crossing 50 Mn Tonnes Milestone

    During the current marketing season, which began on October 1, the Indian government procured 49.98 million tonnes (mt) of rice as of April 30. However, it is slightly lower than the year-ago figure of 50.03 mt. This may allow the government to supply more rations at ration shops if necessary, even if wheat procurement falls short of its aim. Rice procurement during the kharif season from October to April was 49.41 million tonnes, up from 49.73 million tonnes the previous year.
