  • GST Rate on Millets-Based Products Reduced to 5%

    The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council has decided to reduce the GST rate on pre-packaged and labelled millet flour having 70 percent millet content to 5 percent from the current 18 percent during the council's meeting on October 9, 2023. However, it has been considered that millet flour sold in loose form is exempted from GST. The government's major objective in lowering the GST rate on millet flour preparations is to enhance the common citizen's access to these nutritious food items. Millet flour is known for its nutritional value and health benefits which has gained huge popularity among health-conscious consumers in India.
