Sarbananda Sonowal Inaugurates Ayurvedic Hospital in Assam; Plans 6 New Ayush Hospitals in State

The inauguration of the 50-bedded Ayurvedic Hospital in Sriram Chapori, Majuli, represents a significant step towards enhancing healthcare infrastructure and promoting Ayush healthcare in Assam.

Union Minister for Ayush, Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, marked a significant milestone in the field of Ayurvedic healthcare by inaugurating a state-of-the-art 50-bedded Ayurvedic Hospital in Sriram Chapori, Majuli, Assam. The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries and healthcare enthusiasts eager to witness the advancement in Ayush healthcare within the state.

The newly unveiled hospital represents a substantial step towards enhancing the Ayush healthcare system in the region. With its comprehensive facilities and services, the hospital is poised to make a substantial impact on healthcare delivery and accessibility in the area. One of the hospital's key features is its specialized Outpatient Department (OPD) services, which cater to various medical disciplines. These include Shalya (General Surgery), Prastuti Tantra & Stree Roga or PTSR (Obstetrics & Gynecology), Panchakarma, and Kayachikitsa (General Medicine).

The hospital also boasts modern amenities such as a fully-equipped laboratory, Panchakarma & Ksharasutra Therapy setups, a yoga unit, an anorectal clinic, an infertility clinic, a geriatric & rejuvenation clinic, a rheumatology clinic, a lifestyle Disorders clinic, and a skin & cosmetic clinic. In the OPD section alone, the hospital can accommodate up to 50 patients simultaneously, ensuring efficient and timely healthcare services.

During his address at the inauguration, Sarbananda Sonowal emphasized the potential of Majuli as a focal point for Ayush healthcare in the region. He highlighted the region's rich flora and heritage, emphasizing that Majuli has the unique capability to become a healthcare hub. The newly inaugurated Ayurvedic hospital, while providing essential healthcare services to local residents, is expected to play a pivotal role in transforming Majuli into a prominent Ayush hub, aligning with the vision of a 'Swastha Bharat' (Healthy India) as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In addition to the inauguration of the Sriram Chapori Ayurvedic Hospital, Sarbananda Sonowal announced ambitious plans to further strengthen Ayush healthcare infrastructure in Assam. Six new Ayush hospitals are in the pipeline, with four 50-bedded hospitals set to be established in Kaliabor, Morigaon, Kokrajhar, and Baksa. Additionally, a 30-bedded hospital is scheduled for Diphu, and a 10-bedded hospital will be established in Bajali. These hospitals are expected to provide accessible and specialized healthcare services to residents in these areas.`

Furthermore, the Union Ayush Minister confirmed the operationalization of 289 Ayush Health & Wellness Centres (AHWCs) in the state, with an additional 200 AHWCs planned for Assam in the near future. To extend healthcare access even further, Sonowal also announced the establishment of 100 Ayush dispensaries across all districts of Assam.

With the Union Minister's ambitious plans for the region, Assam is poised to become a hub for holistic and Ayurvedic healthcare, benefiting the health and well-being of its residents.
