  • Researchers from IIT Kharagpur Train Farmers in Micro-Irrigation and Protected Cultivation

    A team of researchers at IIT Kharagpur has given training to more than 2,000 farmers from nearby villages of the institute in micro-irrigation as well as protected cultivation structures. Cultivators, who followed the techniques of farm machineries & equipment, reported reduction in labour cost, less cost of cultivation, timeliness of operations & an increase in soil fertility and production, according to a statement issued by IIT Kharagpur.

     

  • Covid-19 Live Updates: 500 Deaths Reported in Last 24 hours in India

    Coronavirus latest News:  With 28,701 new infections, the total number of Covid-19 cases in the country is more than 8.7 lakh. In addition, after 500 deaths in the past 24 hours, the toll now stands at 23,174.

    Many states reported their highest single-day spike on 12th July 2020. Among them was the state of Gujarat, where the tally went up by 879 to reach 41,897. On the other hand, West Bengal’s Coronavirus cases crossed the 30,000-mark with record 1,560 fresh cases reported from different parts of the state, as per a bulletin issued by state health department.

  • Monsoon Likely in Northwest and Central Part of India This Week: Weather Department

    The monsoon trough that had moved northward to the Himalayan foothills bringing very heavy rainfall of over 20 cm to north-eastern as well as eastern states has now started moving southward, according to the India Meteorological Department. The IMD said that with the moving of monsoon system, active monsoon rains are expected to resume over northwest & central India between 14 to 16 July.
