Agricultural experts put focus on formulating balanced technology policies which are crucial for maximizing benefits from GM crops. Experts are of the view that the sector needs a broader and multi-dimensional framework to understand the net social value of technology transpired in the field and suggested that there should be greater consultations among agri-bio scientists and social scientists.

  • Vet Varsity Organizes International Conference to Foster Collaboration and Inspire Breakthroughs in Dairy Engineering

    The College of Dairy Science & Technology, affiliated with Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) Ludhiana is organizing an international conference on ‘Recent Advances in Engineering Applications for Sustainable Dairying’ under the aegis of Indian Dairy Engineers Association (IDEA) from October 13 to 14, 2023. Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice-chancellor, GADVASU mentioned that the conference will provide an opportunity for the stakeholders to come together and find innovative solutions for various challenges such as the need for sustainable farming practices, reduction of waste, and the enhancement of product quality while ensuring the economic viability of the dairy sector.

    CNH, a global leader in agriculture and construction equipment, has been certified as a Great Place to Work in India, in the large organizations category for the year 2023-2024. This is the fifth consecutive year that the organization has been certified. The Great Place to Work Institute’s survey is the world’s largest and most respected study of workplace excellence and people management practices. As a part of the process, close to 90% of the company’s employees participated in the survey through a completely automated process. This accomplishment reflects the positive strides that the company has achieved in boosting the employee experience and is a result of hard work, passion, and teamwork.

  • 'Fisheries Graduates Should Fill Key Positions in the Sector’, Says Himanshu Pathak

    Himanshu Pathak, Secretary of the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Director-General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), emphasized the need to restructure key positions in the fisheries sector. He advocated for individuals with fisheries degrees to fill these roles. Pathak acknowledged the growing importance of the fisheries sector in India and expressed concern that many vital positions are currently occupied by individuals without fisheries qualifications or minimal training. He urged for a gradual shift to have fisheries graduates assume these key positions, recognizing that an immediate transformation might not be feasible. 

  • Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department Excels in Latest CPGRAMS Report for September 2023

    The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) released its 17th Monthly Report in September 2023 on the Centralized Public Grievances Redressal and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), shedding light on the handling of public grievances. Notably, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare emerged as a key player in this system, with several achievements to its name. The department received the highest number of public grievances in September 2023, with a total of 11,198 cases. Furthermore, it earned the top spot in the Grievance Redressal Assessment and Index within Group A (comprising departments with over 500 grievances). This recognition underscores its effective grievance resolution efforts.
