  • 16th Agriculture Science Congress (ASC) Gives Five-Star Recognition to Farmers

    The 16th Agriculture Science Congress (ASC), held at the Lee Meridian Hotel, Kochi, honours the potential of about 200 farmers who participated in the conference representing Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) from within and outside Kerala. The primary objective of the event was to answer the complications that the farmers are facing and have insightful discussions on farm loans, fertilizer subsidies as well as on pest menace. The event was led by V Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Agriculture University along with Ashok K Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Jhansi University.

  • Mudumalai Tiger Reserve Witnesses First-Ever Death of Female Elephant Due to Mating Shock

    The Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu witnessed the death of a 25-year-old female elephant due to mating shock on October 12, 2023. It was found that the dead elephant was pregnant at the time.This marks the first-ever case in the Nilgiris district where an elephant died due to the rupture of the carapace as a result of shock caused during mating with another male elephant The forest department officials found the dead animal while patrolling in the Singhara forest area of the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.

  • ICAR-IARI Signs MoU with IIT Kanpur to Foster Start-ups and Incubators

    In a significant step towards fostering innovation and growth in the agriculture sector, Pusa Krishi, a part of the ICAR- Indian Agricultural Research Institute, and the Start-up Incubation & Innovation Centre (SIIC) at IIT Kanpur have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The historic agreement was sealed today, marking a promising collaboration that is set to have a far-reaching impact on the agricultural landscape.  The MoU was signed through a virtual ceremony, showcasing the modern means of communication that have become increasingly essential in the post-pandemic world. Dr Viswanathan Chinnusamy, Joint Director (Research), IARI, represented Pusa Krishi, while Professor Ankush Sharma from the Department of Electrical Engineering at SIIC IIT Kanpur signed on behalf of the innovation center.

    Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Parshottam Rupala, embarked on the momentous journey of Sagar Parikrama Phase X on October 13, 2023. This initiative seeks to strengthen the ties between the central government and the coastal communities of Andhra Pradesh, with a particular focus on the fisheries sector. The Union Minister's journey commenced as he boarded a coast guard ship from Chennai to Andhra Pradesh. The primary objective of this expedition is to engage with fishers and stakeholders in the region, gaining insights into their concerns and seeking their valuable suggestions. Additionally, Minister Rupala aims to inform the local fishing communities about various government schemes designed to enhance their livelihoods.

  • Vet Varsity Organizes International Conference to Foster Collaboration and Inspire Breakthroughs in Dairy Engineering

    The College of Dairy Science & Technology, affiliated with Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) Ludhiana is organizing an international conference on ‘Recent Advances in Engineering Applications for Sustainable Dairying’ under the aegis of Indian Dairy Engineers Association (IDEA) from October 13 to 14, 2023. Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice-chancellor, GADVASU mentioned that the conference will provide an opportunity for the stakeholders to come together and find innovative solutions for various challenges such as the need for sustainable farming practices, reduction of waste, and the enhancement of product quality while ensuring the economic viability of the dairy sector.
