    The Indian Agricultural Research Institute held a consultation meeting on the emerging challenges in plant protection of major Kharif crops Several agriculture scientists from 33 Krishi Vidyalaya Kendras, scientists from ICAR, participated in the meet. ICAR deputy director general AK Singh, who is also the commissioner of agriculture, Government of India, said crop diversification must be promoted in a big way. “Instead of focusing on wheat and rice, cultivation of 3Ms – maize, moong, and mustard – should be promoted as it can help the country in attaining self-sufficiency and at the same time help in enhancing the income of the farmers,”.

  • The Rubber Board Sign MoU With DY Patil Agriculture And Technical University

    The Rubber Board has signed an agreement with DY Patil Agriculture and Technical University in Kohlapur to investigate the viability of rubber cultivation in Maharashtra's Kohlapur region, , the University will establish a one-hectare rubber plantation with technical assistance from the Rubber Research Institute of India. The University and RRII will jointly monitor the performance of the trees.

  • Indian spices market draws big branded players

    The ₹60,000 crore worth of spices market in India is likely to witness some action with branded players including ITC Ltd, Tata Consumer Products Ltd (TCPL), and Emami among others upping their interest in the segment. Considered to be a highly cluttered market, driven by regional preferences for taste, the branded spices market in India is estimated to be only around 40 percent of the total market at close to ₹24,000 crores.
