Bank Holidays in August: Banks Will Be Closed on These 6 Days from 16 to 31 August, Check List Here

These holidays differ from state to state and are celebrated by the festivals that are observed in each of these states. Here is a list of the holidays this month for which banks in your state or locality will be closed as of today, August 15, 2022.

Since today is Monday, August 15, Independence Day, all banks around the nation will be closed. The banks will be closed for 12 days in August and seven days starting today, including August 15, under the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) 2022 list of bank holidays.

This month, banks will be closed for a total of 18 days. Weekends and RBI-advertised holidays are included in this. The Negotiable Instruments Act Holiday, the Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks' Closing of Since today is Monday, August 15, Independence Day, all banks around the nation will be closed.

The banks will be closed for 12 days in August and seven days starting today, including August 15, under the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) 2022 list of bank holidays. Accounts are the three categories under which the banking authority has designated these holidays.

In addition to August 15, when India celebrates its 76th Independence Day, banks will be closed on August 16 in celebration of the Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi), and on August 18 and 19 to celebrate Janmashtami and Janmashtami (Shravan Vad-8)/Krishna Jayanthi, respectively.

Also, banking operations will be suspended on August 20, 29, and 31 in honor of Sri Krishna Ashtami, Srimanta Sankardeva's birthday, and Ganesh Chaturthi, respectively.

  • On August 15, Independence Day, all banks in the nation will be closed in commemoration of India's 75th year of independence.

  • On August 16, the Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi), banks in Belapur, Mumbai, and Nagpur will be closed.

  • Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Kanpur, and Lucknow banks will be closed on August 18 to celebrate Janmashtami.

  • Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gangtok, Jaipur, Jammu, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, and others celebrate Janmashtami (Shravan Vad-8) on August 19.

  • Sri Krishna Ashtami is on August 20 in Hyderabad so the banks will be closed.

  • Bank in Guwahati will be closed on 29 August to celebrate Srimanta Sankardeva's birthday.

  • Samvatsari, or Chaturthi Paksha, is celebrated on August 31 in the following cities: Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Panaji.

In the past, banks across the nation were closed on August 1, 9, 11, 12, and 13.
