  • More Than 68 lakh Families will Get Free Foodgrains under NFSA

    Around 68.7 lakh families having ration cards under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in Gujarat would get free foodgrains for the 3rd time since April amidst coronavirus-driven lockdown, state government informed on Tuesday. The decision is said to benefit as many as 3.36 crore people in the Gujarat affected by the lockdown, it said.

  • Mumbai on High Alert as "Nisarga" is Heading towards Coastal Lines  

    The state administration has issued high alert on Maharashtra and Gujarat as Tropical storm "Nisarga" has headed towards it’s coastal lines which is likely to intensify into a cyclone in the next 12 hours. It is expected to make a landfall close to Mumbai tomorrow which would be the first cyclonic storm to impact India's financial capital, which has logged over 41,000 coronavirus cases so far, in over a century. 

    It may further intensify into a "severe cyclonic storm" in the next 24 hours, said Indian Meteorological Department in it’s morning report. Mumbai and neighboring districts have been placed on high alert. 

  • ‘Delhi Corona’ App Launched by Delhi Govt for Information on Vacant Hospital Beds, Ventilators

    Delhi government launched a special mobile app called ‘Delhi Corona’, which is dedicatedly built to aid people in finding the real-time status of total hospital beds and ventilators in the state. Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, announced the launch of the app through livestream. “This app will tell you how many hospital beds are vacant and how many are occupied at this moment,” Arvind Kejriwal said during the livestream.

  • Fresh Ebola Virus Cases Reported in DR Congo after Measles & COVID-19 cases

    After recording numerous cases of measles and COVID-19, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) has reported fresh cases of Ebola Virus. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), DR Congo announced that a new outbreak of Ebola virus disease is witnessed in Wangata health zone, Mbandaka, in Équateur province. DR Congo’s Ministry of Health has confirmed the occurrence of six Ebola cases in Wangata so far, out of which, four people have died while two are alive and under care.

  • Cyclone Nisarga Approaches Maharashtra: IMD 

    Cyclone Nisarga is expected to hit the Raigad district of Maharashtra on Wednesday afternoon, though the state health officials expect the Covid-19 pandemic to reach its peak in the upcoming days. During this health crisis, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted damage in a few districts of Maharashtra along the west coast due to Cyclone Nisarga. 

  • PM Modi Assures Industry that Economic Growth will Return 

    PM Narendra Modi today called for the corporate leaders to take an oath for making India self-reliant. He addressed the annual session of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), by a virtual online meeting. PM Modi also shared his vision on 'Getting Growth Back' with representatives of the India Inc. 

  • Polls to 18 Rajya Sabha seats to be held on June 19 

    18 Rajya Sabha seats elections which were earlier postponed because of the coronavirus will now held on June 19, as announced by the Election Commission on Monday. The counting of votes will take place on the evening of June 19, said the Commission in a statement. From these 18 seats, 4 are from Andhra Pradesh & Gujarat, 2 from Jharkhand, 3 each from Madhya Pradesh & Rajasthan and 1 each from Manipur and Meghalaya.
