  • PM addresses the 18th Convocation of Tezpur University, Assam

    The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi addressed the 18th Convocation of Tezpur University, Assam today through video conferencing. Governor of Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ and the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal were also present on the occasion.

    Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said today is a moment to remember and cherish for a lifetime for over 1200 students. He believed that what the students learnt at Tezpur University will accelerate the progress of Assam and progress of the country. He said the sentiment contained in the university anthem which was written by Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika resonates with the great history of Tezpur. 

  • Approval accorded under PLI Scheme for Promotion of Domestic Manufacturing of critical Key Starting Materials (KSMs)/ Drug Intermediates and APIs

    The Applications of following companies, which have committed more than the minimum proposed annual production capacities and fulfil the prescribed criteria have been approved under Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Promotion of Domestic Manufacturing of critical Key Starting Materials (KSMs)/Drug Intermediates and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) in the country. 

    The setting up of these plants will lead to total committed investment of Rs. 3,761 cr. by the companies and employment generation of about 3,825. The commercial production is projected to commence from 1st April, 2023 and the disbursal of production linked incentive by the Government over the six years period would be up to a maximum of Rs. 3,600 cr. Setting of these plants will make the country self-reliant to a large extent in respect of these Bulk drugs.

  • ripartite agreement signed between MECL, RSMML and DMG for harnessing Potash in Rajasthan

    A tripartite agreement was signed between Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL), Rajasthan State Mines & Minerals Limited (RSMML) and the Department of Mines & Geology (DMG), Govt. of Rajasthan for taking up feasibility studies of Solution Mining of Potash in the state of Rajasthan.

    The MoU was signed virtually in the presence of Union Minister for Coal, Mines & Parliamentary Affairs Prahlad Joshi, Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Arjun Ram Meghwal and Chief Minister of Rajasthan  Ashok Gehlot. 

  • ilms Division to stream films on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to mark year-long 125th Birth Anniversary celebrations

    Films Division is celebrating Parakram Diwas on 23rd January 2021 by screening two documentary films on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and his life, marking the year-long 125th birth anniversary celebrations. The Government of India has declared 23rd January, Netaji’s birthday, as Parakram Diwas in recognition of his indomitable spirit and selfless service to the nation.

    Films being streamed are The Flame Burns Bright (43 min./English/1973/Ashis Mukherjee), and Netaji (21 min/Hindi/1973/Arun Chaudhuri) on the great leader’s life and his heroic and relentless fight for India’s independence from the imperial British rule.  Both the documentaries will be streamed on 23rd January 2021 on Films Division website and YouTube channel, throughout the day.

  • Air Quality Commission ropes in top technical institutions to set up a Decision Support System

    The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in NCR and adjoining areas has begun the process of setting up a Decision Support System (DSS) having a web, GIS and multi-model based operational and planning decision support tool. 

    This tool will help immensely in capturing the static and dynamic features of the emissions from various sources. It will have an integrated framework to handle both primary and secondary pollutants using the chemical transport model. The system will also be able to handle the source-specific interventions with the framework to estimate benefits of interventions and will focus on presenting the best results in a comprehensive user-friendly and simple format for different users.
