  • GADVASU Honours 3 Progressive Farmers with Chief Minister Award

    Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana conferred Chief Minister awards to three livestock farmers on the 23rd of September. S. Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Minister of Punjab, presented these awards during an impressive ceremony at the PAU Mela Ground. Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director of Extension Education said that GADVASU is making all out efforts for the development of the livestock sector in the state by strengthening its extension programmes.

  • Haryana Farmers block NH- 44 over delay in food-grain purchasing process

    In Kurukshetra, Haryana, farmers fully blocked National Highway 44 that connects Delhi to Chandigarh at Shahbad in Kurukshetra district on Friday as they launched a scheduled protest about the delay in the purchase of their harvested goods. The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) is leading the demonstration. Farmers had urged the state administration to move up the date for procurement on the grounds that they lack the capacity to store food; otherwise, they had threatened to stage a protest. 

  • PM Modi Inaugurates National Conference of Environment Ministers of all States in Gujarat

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the National Conference of Environment Ministers in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat through video conferencing. In his address to the gathering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed everyone at the National Conference of Environment Ministers. The Prime Minister emphasized that the conference is takin,g place when India is establishing new goals for the next 25 years. 

  • Punjab CM Inaugurates Pashu Palan Mela at GADVASU

    Pashu Palan Mela of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana was inaugurated by Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab. Laljit Singh Bhullar, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries & Dairy Development Minister, A Venu Prasad, IAS Additional Chief Secretary to CM, MLA’s of District Ludhiana, Dr. S.S. Gosal, VC, PAU, Members Board of Management, GADVASU also graced the occasion. Mann visited different stalls of GADVASU and showed keen interest to know about different species of Livestock. 

  • Finance Ministry Releases Rs 25,000 Crore to FCI as Food Subsidy

    The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has repaid the short-term loan (STL) of around Rs 19,000 crore obtained from the banks and recently finance ministry has released more than Rs 25,000 crore towards food subsidy expenses. In order to address cash flow inconsistencies by the finance ministry regarding the inadequate release of food subsidies, the FCI makes use of STLs from scheduled banks with a 90-day duration.

  • Domestic Prices of Rice Will Remain Under Control, Says Government

    According to the government's statement on Friday a ban on the export of broken rice and sufficient supplies in its godowns will help to keep retail rice prices in the local market under control. The food ministry's statement came a day after its factsheet indicated pricing pressure and increased rice prices in the near term.
