  • IMD: These States to Receive Rainfall & Snowfall Till 5th Feb

    Cold wave conditions are expected to persist in north Indian states for the next 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), after which they are expected to subside. However, severe rains are expected in several areas during the next few days, according to the weather service. Under the impact of a new active Western Disturbance and its induced cyclonic circulation, light/moderate rainfall/snowfall is highly likely throughout the Western Himalayan Region from February 2 to 4, according to IMD.

  • ICAR-Winter School on “Advances in Social Science Research & Evaluation” Inaugurated

    Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR has inaugurated the 21-day ICAR-Winter School on “Advances in Social Science Research and Evaluation” at ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad on 25 Jan 2022. The 21-day Virtual School being organized from 25th January to 14th February, 2022 is aimed at imparting advanced knowledge and skills in conducting impact-oriented research and evaluation in social sciences in agriculture.

  • PLI in Textile: Government Extends Timeline for Submission of the Applications

    The deadline for submitting applications under the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) Scheme for textiles has been extended by the Ministry of Textiles until 14.02.2022. Previously, the deadline for submitting an online application for the PLI Scheme for Textiles was January 31, 2022. The government authorized the PLI scheme for textiles in December, with a five-year budget of Rs 10,683 crore to stimulate the manufacture of MMF garments, MMF fabrics, and technical textile goods.

  • India’s 2021-22 Production of Sugar Rises to 2.90 PC to 31.9 MN Tonnes

    According to the first estimate provided by the trade association AISTA on Thursday, sugar production in India, the world's second largest producer after Brazil, will climb by 2.90 percent to 31.9 million tonnes in the current marketing year. The total availability of sugar in the country is forecast to be 40.2 million tonnes in the current marketing year, somewhat lower than the previous year, with predicted output of 31.9 million tonnes and opening stock of 8.3 million tonnes with mills, according to the report. However, the country's sugar production would be sufficient to fulfil domestic demand, which is expected to reach 27 million tonnes in the 2021-22 marketing year, according to the report.
