Livestock

Livestock differs from many other animals in that it is domesticated and produced for food or profit – whether you receive wool, milk, beef, or eggs from animals, you're dealing with livestock. The word derives from the concept of stock, which implies "provision for future use" or "sum of money"; it was also used to signify "movable farm property" in the 1500s.

Synonyms: Farm animal, Stock
