Phytochemicals

Phytochemicals are chemical substances generated by plants to aid in their defense against fungus, bacteria, and plant viruses, as well as for ingestion by insects and other animals. Flavonoids, phenolic acids, curcumin, isothiocyanates, isoflavones,  and carotenoids are a few examples of well-known phytochemicals.

Brightly colored vegetables and fruit have the largest quantities of phytochemicals, which may aid in the prevention of diseases including cancer and heart disease.
