“The ICAR- Indian Council of Agricultural Research, should strengthen its research in Nano Technology and come up with some Nano Technologies that can be commercialized”, said Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR).
Dr. Mohapatra was addressing the “Virtual Review Meeting of Officers and Staff Members of ICAR Headquarters and Institutes” organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi here at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi.
Mentioning the rapid increase in the cases of COVID-19 and its variant Omicron, the Director-General urged to observe all the necessary SOPs to curb or contain its spread. Dr. Mohapatra asserted on the Council's commitments to providing Quality Education even during the challenging times of COVID-19.
Implementation of E-Office To Continue Official Work
“The initiation of E-Office resulted in smooth functioning of the Council's various works even during the lockdown period as imposed by the COVID-19 Pandemic. This helped us a lot in streamlining the various works and ensuring the smooth functioning on a larger scale”, stressed Dr. Mohapatra. He also urged the Institutes for implementing the E-Office to continue the official works uninterruptedly and efficiently.
“Precision Agriculture is now mostly Entrepreneur-driven and youths are driving the revolution. We should intensify our efforts to bring precision agriculture in the mainstream in which the use of Drone is the main component”, urged Dr. Mohapatra. He stated that 2022 will be the Year for intensifying the efforts for precision farming for enabling it to reach each and every corner of the country wherever it can be practiced.
Diversification And Use of Technology
The prioritization of research on natural farming was stressed by the DG. Dr. Mohapatra also underlined the publishing of a Book on 75,000 Success Stories of Doubling Farmers’ Income in the Year - 2022. “The Crowd Sourcing for identification of Non-Descriptive Animal Breeds is crucial”, he added. The Director-General emphasized that the KVKs are in the limelight now and need to be strengthened. He stressed on the diversification and use of technology as much as possible.
Young Scientist To Be More Focused & Strategic
The DG also urged to inspire the Young Scientists for enabling them to be more organized, focused, and strategic towards their approaches. The Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR); AS&FA (DARE/ICAR) and Deputy Directors General, ICAR also deliberated during the Meeting. The Senior Officers of ICAR Headquarters, Directors & Scientists of ICAR Institutes also virtually participated in the Meeting.
