Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers, paid a visit to Madras Fertilizers Limited (MFL) in Chennai yesterday. He reviewed the Company's progress, comprehended the challenges, elaborated on the opportunities, and directed the Company to work towards meeting the needs of our farmers.
Dr. Mandaviya also visited the control room, inspecting and understanding the process before engaging in a brief interaction with staff.
In his remarks, Dr. Mandaviya congratulated the team on reaching a significant milestone in their journey towards the collective effort of Atmanirbharta in fertilizers.
He also stated that MFL has successfully supplied more than 32% of the state of Tamil Nadu's neem coated urea requirement of 4.5 LMT in Kharif 2022 while producing and supplying nearly 82% of Puducherry's Kharif requirement of 7300 MT.
Union Chemicals and Fertilizer Minister also stated that he has introduced the Vision 2027, which envisions the inclusion of a phosacid plant, the installation of a granulator to produce DAP, the installation of an RLNG-based captive power plant of 20 MW, the installation of an additional NPK stream to increase total NPK production to 5LMT, and diversification into trading different fertilizer products. He went on to say that Atmanirbharta is critical and that nano fertilizers are a step in the right direction.
Dr. Mandaviya directed MFL to look for opportunities to transition to nano urea production, which will change the face of fertilizer use in India tomorrow.
He also expressed his excitement for MFL's contribution to the farmers' cause in Tamil Nadu and beyond. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare as well as Chemicals and Fertilizers, visited Puducherry and Chennai from June 24th to June 26th, 2022.
