Amid lockdown, farmers have to face various hardships due to supply chain disruptions. The notification of lockdown came, when harvesting activities for rabi season crop was at it’s peak.
Good quality seed constitutes one of the most important input for bumper crop production. Realising the hardships faced by farmers amid lockdown, the state government of Himachal Pradesh decided to provide 50% subsidy on seeds.
Around 39 thousand hectares of land in under kharif crop in Himachal Pradesh. The decision to provide subsidy will benefit many farmers of the state directly.
Around 34, 460 quintals of seed are to be provided to the farmers. Director of Agriculture, Dr. R.K. Kaundal said that around 50% of seed has already been provided to farmers for kharif sowing.
