At a time when farmers are eagerly waiting for the 11th Installment of PM Kisan Yojana, the UP government has sent notice for recovery of money to more than 2500 farmers. The government officials informed that these farmers were not eligible for the scheme but still taking benefits from it.
The Agriculture Department in Hardoi, UP is strictly dealing with ineligible people who have taken advantage of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. In fact, these people were also taking advantage of the amount given to the farmers under the scheme. These ineligible people included income tax payers, landless and deceased.
After disclosure during a routine verification, the department has started the process of recovery of the amount by issuing notices to more than 2700 ineligible people. The Agriculture Department has also recovered more than Rs 6 lakh from the kin of the deceased.
Around 759541 farmers have registered for the scheme in Hardoi district, in relation to which data has been sent to the government who is preparing to disburse the next installment of PM Kisan Yojana to the account of farmers.
Money Recovered from families of 106 deceased
Deputy Agriculture Director Dr Nand Kishore said that the verification work will be completed in the months of May and June. So far, 2707 ineligible have been found, in which most of them are income tax payers while some are landless. At the same time, there are many couples from the same family who are getting the benefit of the scheme. Not only this, the money was sent to the accounts of the dead as well.
Hence the Agriculture Department has recovered Rs 6 lakh 26 thousand from the families of those 106 deceased who were ineligible for the scheme.
The Agriculture Department has issued a notice to the remaining ineligible people to return the amount as soon as possible. The Agriculture Department claims that the amount taken under the PM Kisan Yojana will be recovered from all the ineligible. An official said that once the verification process is complete in June, many more ineligible people may be identified.
