The Solvent Extractors Association (SEA) in a release said that with “Our encouraging experience, with the Castor Model Farms Project for raising the output, in the ensuing rabi season, we plan to establish “Mustard Model Farms”, which is based on scientifically proven technology & principles of ‘More with less’ for dissemination of package of good production practices & technical knowledge among farmers”.
The model of farms with the objectives to display the results of good practices and technologies among farmers will be organised by Farmer field schools.
The press release further said that along with new & climate modified seed varieties, biological & cultural management measures/IPM practices will be promoted to reduce the use of pesticides & chemicals. Farmers will be modernize and capacitated regarding awareness, knowledge and skills and acceptance to new ideas as well as technologies. Inter-crops will also be promoted for crop diversification & increasing farmers’ income.
Solvent Extractors Association, in cooperation with Solidaridad, is working out SOP for Mustard Model Farm and is aiming to increase the productivity of mustard thereby to support the cultivators for their better livelihood.
SEA also informed that "We plan to launch the Mustard Mission from ensuing Rabi Season and look forward to receive support from all the stake holders".
