Free Residential Professional Skill Development Course on 'Aqua Clinics & Aquapreneurship Development Programme' at GADVASU

The training course is sponsored by National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, Hyderabad in collaboration with National Institute of Agriculture Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad.

According to Dr. Meera D. Ansal, Head, Department of Aquaculture, it is a professional training course being implemented for the first time in Punjab and College of Fisheries is identified as one of the Nodal Training Institute to organize the same. She told that the main objective of this training programme is to produce technically empowered fisheries professionals, who can establish ‘Aqua Clinics/Aqua One Centres’ with the support of MANAGE/NFDB, which will not only help professional graduates to take up Aquapreneurship, but also strengthen the Fisheries and Aquaculture sector of the State.

Dr. Vaneet Inder Kaur, Scientist (Fisheries) and Course Co-ordinator informed that the training program will provide technical skills for rearing important finfish/shellfish species including hatchery management; seed production; best management practices (BMPs) in respect to water quality management and analysis, Feed strategies, feed formulation and manufacturing,  health management, bio-security measures, disease diagnosis and treatment; post-harvest handling, processing/value addition, preparation of detailed project report and business plan etc., so as to provide essential utility services to the farmers of their region.

According to Dr. Kulbir Singh Sandhu, Dean, College of Fisheries, this AC&ADP is a golden opportunity for the aspiring entrepreneurs,  as after successful completion of course, they can win competitive start-up financial assistance to set up Aqua Clinics/Aqua-one From NFDB/MANAGE and hand holding support of Nodal Training Institute GADVASU.

Details of the training programme

  • Program will be conducted in January/February 2020.

  • The eligibility criterion for the course is graduation in Fisheries/Aquaculture/Marine Biology/Life Sciences/Agriculture & Allied Subjects or Diploma in Fisheries, with age limit of 50 years.

  • The last date to apply for the course is 25th December, 2019 with maximum intake capacity of 30 candidates.

  • Free lodging/boarding will be provided to the participants.

  • The application form and other details for the programme can be downloaded from the website of MANAGE (www.manage.gov.in) and GADVASU (www.gadvasu.in).
