Reproductive efficiency of dairy animals is one of the important aspects of making dairy business profitable. Keeping this motto in mind, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education of GADVASU, Ludhiana organized training programmes in Rampur and Pamali villages of Ludhiana district under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yozana(RKVY) .
A total of 40 dairy farmers exclusively belonging to scheduled castes were trained in improving reproductive efficiency of their animals. Dr Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Head of the Department, elaborated various management tips for getting maximum results following artificial insemination and care of pregnant dairy animals during winter months. Dr Ravdeep Singh informed about various facilities provided by GADVASU to dairy farmers of the state.
A START-UP kit consisting of a bag of mineral mixture, Uromin Lick and a set of University publications was distributed to the beneficiary farmers free of cost.
Dr Sharma informed that department is also organising on-line specialized training courses for dairy farmers. These courses are regarding Calf Management; Reproductive Management of Dairy Animals; Health Management of Dairy Animals; Nutritional Management during Transition Period; Udder Management; Hoof Management; Waste Management at Dairy Farm; Feed Manufacturing Operations; One Health (Human, Animal and Environment Interaction); Indigenous/Herbal Remedies for Dairy Animals. The first four courses are of 10- day duration while the rest will be completed in 5 days.
These courses are open for all the farmers of the state. Interested dairy farmers can apply in a specified proforma available ai university website (www.gadvasu.in). The filled form can be submitted to the office of the department by post or in person. After receiving at least 20 applications, the farmers will be informed individually for the start of the training programme and the training fees. The fees can be deposited by on-line mode in university’s bank account. The theory lectures for each training programme will be delivered daily from 11.00 A.M to 2.00 PM on Google meet or Zoom Apps. The successful candidates will be given certificates on the completion of the programme.
