Krishi Jagran opened its second Kisan Club in Kerala
“ Krishi Jagran Kisan club is a novel entity that can change the farm culture to prosperity” , said Shri.Pramod.M.S,Scientist, Kerala centre for pest management, Mankomb, Alappuzha , while explaining on the benefits of farmers club at the inaugural session of second KJ kisan club at Mayyanad, Kollam district . He said the club can raise core issues that farmers facing to the authorities and also can act as a platform to disseminate new developments in the sector. Organizing farm tours ,conducting local markets and supporting farmers to get assistance from various agencies are really imperative ideas , he said. Smt.Jomy Jacob, Agriculture officer , Mayyanad inaugurated the club and briefly spoke on the schemes that Kerala Government provides to the farmers and farmers’ clubs.

Heavy downpour made the function delayed. Even then more than 50 farmers attended the function. Representatives of Samrudhi farmers group and Purusha Swayam Shayaka Sangam(Men’s self help group) took special interest in attending the meeting. Neduvathoor KJ Kisan Club president Sri Suresh Kumar C gave a presentation on how Vipani( farmer’s market) at Neduvathur working successfully and how to start a Vipani in Mayyanad Panchayath. Shri.Prathapan , member of KJKC Neduvathur , Agriculture World Editor V.R.Ajith kumar, Krishi Jagaran Malayalam editor Suresh Muthukulam, KJ Circulation Manager T.Arun ,Saji.R,Agricultureral Assitant ,Mayyand also spoke on the occasion.

The function was followed by a lecture class on pest management in coconut and Banana by Sri.Pramod.M.S. It was a very informative lecture and farmers expressed their gratitude for many tips he provided to them. Vegetable seeds and seedlings are also supplied on the occasion.
