Over 50 farmers gathered for 2nd edition of KJ Kisan Club

The second edition of Krishi Jagran Kisan club was inaugurated at Mayyanad Krishi bhavan which comes under the aegis of mayyand panchayath, kollam. More than 50 farmers attended the function. In addition, representatives of two farmers groups (each consisting of minimum 10 members) were present at the occasion.

The second edition of Krishi Jagran Kisan club was inaugurated at  Mayyanad Krishi bhavan which comes under the aegis of mayyand panchayath, kollam.   More than 50 farmers attended the function. In addition, representatives of two farmers groups (each consisting of minimum 10 members) were present at the occasion.

The Samrudhi farmers group , General Convenor Sri. Krishnankutti.G and Treasurer Mrs.Sheela , Purusha Swayam Shayaka Sangam ,President Sri Harilal and Secretary Sri. Anirudhan attended the meeting.

The programme was inaugurated by  the Agriculture officer of  Mayyanad, Smt. Jomy Jacob. A session on the importance of Kisan Club was conducted by Sri. Pramod. M.S, Agriculture Officer at Kollam branch . He told people about the importance of Kisan clubs as well as Krishi Jagran magazine’s role in promoting such clubs. He described each and every agenda of the club activity.

Thereafter, former Kissan club , Neduvathoor President, Sri Suresh Kumar C discussed about the importance of Vipani and how to establish a Vipani in Mayyanad Panchayath. He gave tips to his fellow farmers about market demand of certain vegetables like papaya, cucumber etc. It was followed by short explanation on farming techniques in Tamil Nadu by our South-zone manager Sri.Ajith.  Our Editor  Suresh Muthukulam also gave a short message on how Krishi Jagran plays an important role in promoting farmers.

Later, election of Kisan club members was done in presence of all the farmers and other dignitaries. This Kisan club led to the formation of a collective women group who are active in the sector under the leadership of Smt. Latheefa.N, a prominent personality in the agriculture arena of Mayyanad.

A lecture class on pest management in coconut and banana was taken by Sri. Pramod. M.S. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Agricultural Assistant, Sri Saji.R under whom Mayyanad Panchayath has witnessed progress in vegetable cultivation and played a key role in the success of Kissan club there.
