Innovate UK, the United Kingdom's innovation agency, is organising a programme for Indian and UK companies called "Transforming Heavy Industries" from April 24-28, 2023, in Liverpool and Coventry, UK. As the program's industry partner, FICCI is sending a delegation to discuss opportunities with UK companies in addressing the Sustainability Challenge.
Heavy industries such as cement, ceramics, glass, paper, metals, and bulk chemicals, which contribute significantly to the Indian and UK economies, face the same challenges of high energy and raw material consumption and unsustainable environmental impact.
The visit to the UK will provide an opportunity for Indian companies to meet with key UK research organisations, tour their facilities, and form international partnerships for the development and commercialization of innovative technology/solutions that will address the sustainability challenge and transform Heavy Industries towards net Zero goals.
Innovate UK will also facilitate meetings between Indian and UK companies to explore business and collaboration opportunities, as well as prepare them to jointly pitch for a £10 million bilateral funding on sustainability, which will be launched in March 2023.
