Tomorrow (April 29, 2023), the World Veterinary Day of 2023 will be observed. Every year on the last Saturday in April, the Day recognizes the veterinary profession. The subject of the Day this year is Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Veterinary Profession.
This event aims to acknowledge and honor the significant contributions made by veterinarians in animal and human health and welfare, food safety and quality, ecology, drugs and pharmaceutical development, biomedical research, rural development, education and training, policymaking, economic growth through livestock production and management, wildlife conservation, and protection of the environment and biodiversity. Additionally, it is crucial to recognize their efforts in preventing bio-terrorism and safeguarding the country.
The ceremony will be attended by Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Dr Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and L. Murugan, Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
The Mega event will be attended by veterinary professionals from across the country. The main events include conferences and panel discussions on topics such as veterinary education and services in the country, as well as the role of veterinarians in One Health.
