From guarding the heart to controlling blood pressure, the humble Radish comes with a host of health benefits.They’re rich of relevant nutrients such as vitamins C, folate and riboflavin (vitamin B2), and also contain minerals such as potassium and calcium. Red radishes are particularly packed with Vitamins E, A, C, B6, and K. Plus they're high on antioxidants, fiber, zinc, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium, copper, calcium, iron and manganese.

In a 100g reference serving, raw radishes provide 66 kilocalories of food energy and have a moderate amount of vitamin C (18% of daily value), with other essential nutrients in low content. A raw radish is 95% water, 3% carbohydrates, 1% protein, and has negligible fat.

Aids digestion

Radish is full of dietary fiber, which helps with digestion issues. If one eats it as part of your daily salad intake, radish provides the system with ample roughage and fibers, therefore improving digestion. It also regulates bile production, safeguards liver and the gall bladder, and is excellent for taking care of water retention.

Radishes are a good source for anthocyanins that keeps the heart functioning properly, reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Plus they are high on vitamin C, folic acid, and flavonoids too.

Rich in potassium, radishes can help keep blood pressure under control by maintaining the sodium-potassium balance in the body. This anti-hypertensive property helps keep the blood flow in control, especially if one is known to suffer from hypertension.

Full of vitamin A, C, E, B6, potassium, and other minerals, radishes can give the entire body an immunity boost. Radishes are high on antioxidants and anthocyanins, which means that it's quite good for basic immunity. It also controls the development of harmful free radicals, inflammation and early ageing.

Radishes have Vitamin C, zinc, and phosphorus. These, when combined, can help get rid of dryness, acne and rashes at bay. Radishes also have high water content, and keep the body naturally hydrated. Further, if applied on hair, it helps to remove dandruff, prevent hair loss, and strengthens the root too.
