Yoga is a precious gift given to the world by Indian culture. India has made some contribution in every area of the world. no matter if it space&science, astrology, knowledge of Ayurveda in the field of(herbal medicine) the whole world believes the worth of Indian scientists. But the place of India in the field of spirituality is all-sovereign and unique. And it comes in Yoga is coming from everlasting times in ancient India it cannot be expressed in a specific area or by particular definition.it is a symbol of India's soul and its culture.
Yoga means union of soul with the God so that being can attain eternal bliss and joy in every way can be liberated from human maladies such as misery, attachment, and greed,there is basically three main state of enlightement in yoga that is nirvana, samadhi, salvation These are three main steps. According to the abilities of the seeker, one of these three attributes will be attained, but the goal of all three is the same as the merger and integration with God, ie merge into the universe.
History and types of yoga
The father of yoga is Lord Shiva. Yoga without shiva cannot Exist. Shiva and Yoga are called synonyms of each other. it is not possible to separate the two from each other. In the ancient Vedas, the attainment of Shiva is said to be the only salvation. It is the condition that Buddha tradition is given the title of Buddha. The name of Kashi Vishwanath, the famous city of Lord Shiva, is called the city of salvation. In the remnants of the Harappa civilization, Mahayogi Shiva has been engraved with the bull in Yogic posture.. This is called Rishabhnath in the Jain tradition. And the teacher of these seven divine sages of eastern culture in jainisim,buddhisim,hinduisim,sikhisim. He is the source of the auditory tradition.
Adinath(eternal lord) Adiogi(eternal sage or first sage) etc. are various names of lord shiva. More than 1000 knowledge of mediums and types was given by the lord shiva to the world through saptārsishis(7 divine sages) Maharshi Patanjali compiled the yoga knowledge given by different sages, monks,and created a seperate book that is called Patanjali Yoga Sutra today. Tantra Yoga, Ashtanga Marg, Hath Yoga of Navnath tradition all these paths lord shiva's inheritence.. It is estimated that Shiva and Yoga are closely related to each other. This can be interpreted by Maharishi Patanjali as the source of all knowledge to Lord Shiva at the end of the composition of Yoga Sutra. And in Yoga Sutra, he has expressed devotion towards him. Even today, Yogi in Yogic culture do not regards Lord Shiva as God but regards him as their Guru(teacher) and addresses him with the title of Adiogi, Mahayogi. And even today, Lord Shiva, in his Gorakhnatha Avatar, gave vision to his disciples from time to time. Guru Gobind Singh also described Saint Gorakhnath in Guru Granth Sahib.
Worldly tradition- In this tradition, the yogi does not need to get involve in the asceticism, but living a simple human life and develop the qualities like purity, truth, good deeds, charity and c etc. and lead an ideal life Devoted to God. Bhagavad Gita gives details of the three main yoga types of this tradition.
Karma Yoga(path of action) - This means that people continue to do their deeds without worrying about result. this philosophy emphasis on doing of action. Do not worry about the past, nor stay in unnecessary misery for the future, because as lord krishna said in gita you cannot change your past, and neither you have any control over future. It is better that human being learned to live in the present and Trying to make the presenter better by doing their deeds. This is Karma Yoga.
Bhakti Yoga(path of devotion) - This means that attaining liberation through devotion means success in every situation, happiness in life, or misery in deep distress always chanting the name of the auspicious divnity always reciting the names of divnity. The best devotee is the one who remain stable in every situation no matter how many ups and downs come in his life. Such a person, with great faith in his and who treat god as his friend, shared his pleasure and sorrows with him, that person obtains the supreme status through his selfless devotion. Saint Kabirdas, Tulsidas, Meerabai are all the examples of Bhakti Marg.
U.N Declaration of 21st June as world yoga day:
Formal and informal yoga teachers and enthusiasts group celebrated World Yoga Day in support of various reasons on 21st June. In December 2011, the International Humanist, Meditation and Yoga Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and other yoga gurus supported the delegation of the Portuguese Yoga Federation and suggested the United Nations to declare the world together on June 21 as Yoga Day.
After this 'Yoga: A science for world peace' was organized between 4 and 5 December 2011. It was jointly organized by the Yoga Association of Portugal, Art of Living Foundation and SVYASA Yoga University, Bengaluru. According to Jagat Guru Amrit Suryananda, the idea of World Yoga Day came about 10 years ago, but this was the first time that Yoga Guru from India supported this idea in such a large number. On that day, on 21 June, as the World Yoga Day under the leadership of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the United Nations and UNESCO were signed to declare it.
This initiative has got support from many global leaders. First, Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koiler said that Prime Minister Modi's proposal was supported. More than 177 countries, Canada, China, and Egypt, including the United States, supported it. So far this is the highest number of co-sponsors for any United Nations General Assembly resolution. On December 11, 2014, the 193-member UN General Assembly unanimously approved the 'International Day of Yoga' on June 21.
After declaring the United Nations, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar appreciated the efforts of Narendra Modi, saying:
"For any philosophy, religion or culture, it is very difficult to survive without the protection of the state. Yoga has existed in the form of an orphan, so far, the official law by the United Nations will spread the benefits of Yoga to the world."

Emphasizing the significance of yoga, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said that yoga makes you again like a child, where there is Yoga and Vedanta, there is no shortage, impurity, ignorance and injustice. We can do the yoga to everyone's door, and we need to liberate the world from suffering.
