During a meeting at the Mantralaya on Friday, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, a decision was made to revamp the rules governing the centralized admission process for agriculture and agriculture-affiliated colleges in the state. The objective is to adopt a centralized admission system similar to engineering courses.

As a result of this decision, students enrolling in agriculture courses will receive updates regarding available seats in colleges after each phase of the admission process. This will enable them to make informed choices based on the available options. This decision will alleviate significant inconvenience for students seeking admission to agriculture courses, as colleges will now have the flexibility to offer admissions until the last date.

Under the leadership of the deputy Chief Minister, a meeting took place at the Mantralaya with the aim of addressing issues pertaining to admissions in agricultural colleges and courses within the state.

The meeting saw the presence of various officials, including Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde, MLA Shekhar Nikam, and Finance Department Upper Chief Secretary Dr Nitin Karir, along with other relevant authorities.

As the admission process rules for agricultural colleges are being revised, students will experience increased convenience and will also gain access to reserved seats. Additionally, a favorable decision was made during the meeting to centralize the agricultural admission process through the Maharashtra State Agricultural Education and Research Council.

During the meeting, there were discussions regarding the possibility of permitting colleges or institutes with exceptional performance in agricultural education to establish private agricultural universities. The attendees also addressed various matters concerning agricultural universities, agricultural colleges, nurseries, and related topics within the state.
