All-India Network Project Inception Workshop on Antimicrobial Resistance in Fisheries & Livestock Held in New Delhi

The national capital hosted the launch workshop for the All-India Network Project on Antimicrobial Resistance in Fisheries & Livestock, featuring high-profile dignitaries and aiming to coordinate efforts across 31 partner institutes to combat AMR in farmed animals and fishes.

An inaugural workshop marking the launch of the All-India Network Project on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in Fisheries and Livestock took place today at the National Agricultural Science Complex.

Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR), inaugurated the workshop, joined by esteemed dignitaries including Dr. J. K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), ICAR and National Coordinator (AINP-AMR), Dr. Ashok Kumar, Assistant Director General (Animal Health) ICAR, and Dr. Uttam Kumar Sarkar, Director, ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, among others.

The workshop aimed to provide a platform for reviewing the progress, expanding networks, establishing an operational framework, and charting the future surveillance roadmap for AMR in farmed animals and fishes. With 31 partners from ICAR Fisheries and Animal Science institutes, as well as Central Agricultural Universities and State Agricultural Universities across India, ICAR-NBFGR will spearhead coordination efforts for the project.

Officers from the Animal Science and Fisheries Division of ICAR actively participated in the workshop, underscoring the importance of collaboration and concerted efforts in tackling antimicrobial resistance in the fisheries and livestock sectors.
