In a bid to spread awareness about the holistic benefits of Ayurveda, nationwide bikers' rallies are set to rev up the streets of 11 cities across the country on November 5, 2023. The rallies, scheduled from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., aim to connect youth with the global message of Ayurveda for 'One Health' and highlight the rich heritage of Ayurveda for the well-being of the general public.
The driving force behind these rallies includes the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Delhi and Patiala, as well as the National Ayurveda Research Institutes (RARI) in Lucknow, Nagpur, Jaipur, Vijayawada, Thiruvananthapuram, Ahmedabad, Dr. A. Lakshmipathy National Ayurveda Research Institute, and Capt. Srinivas Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Institute in Chennai, along with the National Institute of Medical Heritage (NIMH) in Hyderabad.
These institutions have teamed up with young biker groups from their respective cities to organize these events. Notable among them are the Twin Nomads Biker Club, led by Anas and Shivam in Delhi, the Dragon Jade Club in Vishakapatnam, and the Tamilnadu Bikers Association Members (TNBAM) in Chennai, headed by Oswald Smith D.
Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, emphasized the importance of connecting the youth with the 'Ayurveda for One Health' campaign, stating that a strong and healthy India's future can be built upon this foundation.
The goal of Ayurveda Day is to take India's millennia-old Ayurvedic medical culture to the global stage and make Ayurveda an integral part of people's lifestyles worldwide. The biker rallies in various cities are expected to inspire youth to embrace Ayurveda and other traditional Indian medical systems.
The Delhi bikers' group, including Anas and Shivam from Twin Nomads Bikers Club (TNBC), Mohd Arshad from Purani Delhi Motorcyclist (PDM), Ashish from Weekend Riders Club (WRC), Mohd Sameer from Kayi Rider Group (KRG), and KC Tyagi from Meraki Rider Group (MRG), are among the key coordinators of the rallies.
The Delhi rally will kick off from Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), Punjabi Bagh at 8 a.m., pass through Motibagh to Jakira, and then return to CARI. A group of 20 specially-abled bikers will also participate in the rally to demonstrate their commitment to Ayurveda and other traditional medicine systems in the country.
In the run-up to these events, the Ministry is orchestrating these rallies to convey the message to the youth that Ayurveda plays a vital role in the health and well-being of children, teenagers, youth, and the general public. The month-long celebrations to commemorate the eighth Ayurveda Day have three primary components- Ayurveda for students, Ayurveda for farmers, and Ayurveda for public health.
