The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an advisory to all states to take necessary precautionary measures in view of calls on social media for Bharat Bandh on April 10 by some groups.
The Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh, an umbrella body of no farmers organizations, today said it will not supply farm products such as vegetables, grain and milk to cities across the country for 10 days from June 1 in protest against what it called the anti-farmer policies of the Central government.
The organisation said by cost of production, they meant C2 and not A2 + FL. A2 includes expenses, in cash and kind, incurred on seeds, fertilizers, chemicals, labour, fuel and irrigation, while A2+FL covers actual costs for rentals and interest forgone on owned land and fixed capital assets respectively. The farmers also urged traders organizations to support their June 10 Bharat bandh.
MHA has advised the states to beef up security and make appropriate arrangements to prevent any untoward incident, including issue of prohibitory orders, if necessary. It has asked for intensification of patrolling in all sensitive locations so as to prevent any loss of life or damage to property.
The Advisory stressed that District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police be made personally responsible for ensuring that law and order situation remains firmly under control in the areas of their jurisdiction.
