To promote ‘Plastic-free India’ and ahead of Diwali festival, Mother Dairy has reduced the price of 'token milk' by Rs. 4 per liter as compared to its packaged milk.
With the current daily average volume of 6 lakh liters through Mother Dairy's strong network of 900 booths, the cash incentive works closer to Rs. 90 crore every year.
Mother Dairy in a statement said that "The Company will take extra steps to promote the consumption of token milk & is actively considering to introduce door to door supplies for reducing the use of plastics in day to day life by residents of National Capital Region that comprises Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad,"
The statement added that the company will also refurbish retail sell outlets for milk via vending machines to improve consumer experiences, facilities & efficiencies. It said, "With growing concerns towards the dangers of plastic to the environment, we are urging customers across Delhi NCR region to come forward & contribute by opting for quality token milk”.
MD of Mother Dairy, Sangram Chaudhary said being free of any plastic packaging, every liter purchased by a customer will help in reducing plastic generation by around 4.2 grams & on an annualized basis by 900 MT, thus leaving a green footprint".
Mother Diary spokesperson said that the company has also increased the capacity of 10 litres /day so as to cater to the increasing demand of token milk.
