Google Arts & Culture launched a new digital exhibit, “Millets: Seeds of Change,” recently at Krishi Bhawan in Delhi. The exhibition has been launched in collaboration with India’s Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare to celebrate the rich history and growing international importance of millets, of which India is the world’s largest producer.

Manoj Ahuja, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, highlighted that India led the UNGA resolution to designate 2023 as the International Year of Millets to share its agricultural expertise globally.

He expressed satisfaction in the interest garnered by 'Shree Anna' at the G20 Summit, recognizing its potential to benefit India's small-scale farmers.

Furthermore, Ahuja hoped that the discussions sparked over the past year would result in wider adoption of millets' advantages. He also extended gratitude to Google Arts & Culture for their dedicated digital exhibit supporting this initiative.

The exhibit acted as a detailed exploration of the numerous advantages of millets, presenting their wide range of varieties, farming methods, and culinary adaptability. Renowned chefs like the award-winning Chef Thomas Zacharias have shared straightforward yet delicious millet recipes, playing a pivotal role in promoting the millet resurgence.

Visitors got a chance to participate in interactive features like quizzes and crosswords, enhancing their understanding of the importance of millets in an engaging and informative manner.
