The weather department of India has predicted heavy snowfall/rainfall over the western Himalayan region till 7th March and a significant decrease thereafter. As per the report, heavy snowfall is very likely to lash over Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan on 6th to 7th march while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand likely to witness it on 6th March. As per the weather models at Skymet, an active Western Disturbance is persisting over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. Also, an induced cyclonic circulation is over northwest Rajasthan and adjoining Punjab and Haryana.
Delhi Weather
Amid Coronavirus fear across Delhi, the national capital has been witnessing heavy rainfall since Thursday evening which is likely to continue up to 7th March. People are advised to wear masks, maintain hygiene and healthy diets as a precaution from this deadly virus. On the other hand, the city stands at 124 AQI with unhealthy poor air quality.
The weather activities have increased more during the last 24 hours. And, as correctly predicted by Skymet Weather, intense weather activities were observed in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Ladakh.
Heavy snow may even lead to avalanches in the prone areas. Landslides, mudslides and road blockage due to fresh snow accumulation cannot be ruled out. Thus, extra precautions must be taken.
These weather activities are expected to continue until the afternoon of March 7. At the same time, Uttarakhand may also observe scattered rainfall activities.
Although we do not expect heavy to very heavy rainfall in the hilly states, the activities will be more over the plains of North India.
On March 8, the Western Disturbance will turn feeble and it will continue to move away in the eastwards direction further leading to clear weather conditions.
