Women self-help groups (WSHGs) have begun making Sri Anna Prasadam (offering) for the Kashi Vishwanath temple, as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to support millets.
The United Nations has designated 2023 as the International Year of Millets, on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 'Sri Anna,' according to Modi, is the name of the cereal.
Sri Anna Prasadam, which is made with millets, jaggery, sesame, cashew, almond, pure ghee, and khoya, is now available to devotees at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
At the Kashi Vishwanath temple, this Sri Anna Prasadam is offered to the Lord. According to a government press release, the sale of 'Sri Anna Prasadam' has begun at Kashi Vishwanath temple at the request of the UP government.
Millet is high in protein, fibre, vitamins, and minerals. Millet has the potential to protect cardiovascular health, prevent the onset of diabetes, help people achieve and maintain a healthy weight, and manage gut inflammation.
"The prasad is made from millet, jaggery, sesame, cashew, almond, pure ghee, and khoya," said Sunita Jaiswal, president of a self-help group. "Currently, packets of 100 and 200 gms of laddoos are available in the temple as prasad."
Himanshu Nagpal, Chief Development Officer, stated that the price of Sri Anna Prasadam was kept the same as the 'prasad' that was being sold.
"Special attention has been taken to guarantee both quality and quantity. These women are part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM)," he explained.
