Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje, reviewed the performance of the Khadi and Village Industries (KVI) sector in a recent meeting. The meeting, which included senior officials such as Manoj Kumar, Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), focused on the upcoming Khadi Mahotsav 2024. Scheduled for October 2024, this event aims to boost the promotion of Khadi across the nation.
During the meeting, Minister Manjhi stressed the importance of increasing efforts to promote Khadi, urging a targeted approach to implementing various schemes. He highlighted the necessity for wider publicity to encourage more citizens to embrace Khadi clothing. According to him, this movement would not only foster national pride but also significantly contribute to generating employment in rural areas.
The gathering also saw participation from key figures including the Secretary and Joint Secretary (ARI) of the MSME Ministry, as well as the CEO of KVIC, among other officials. They collectively discussed strategies to enhance the reach and impact of Khadi, focusing on how the Khadi Mahotsav can serve as a pivotal platform for this purpose.
The Khadi Mahotsav 2024 is planned as a significant event to exhibit the rich heritage of Khadi, promoting its use as a symbol of self-reliance and sustainable development. The initiative aims to revitalize the sector and support rural artisans, thereby contributing to the overall economic growth of the country by encouraging people to wear Khadi.
