MEA Former Secretary Dr Amarendra Khatua Applauds Agri Initiatives at KJ Chaupal!

Dr Amarendra Khatua, a distinguished diplomat and former Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs of India, visited the Krishi Jagran office in Delhi on Thursday, May 9, 2024. With expertise in foreign policy and trade, Dr Khatua has served in diverse roles within the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian Missions abroad. At KJ Chaupal, he appreciated Krishi Jagran's role in promoting agricultural media literacy, shaping policy with innovative ideas, and serving as a knowledge-based organization.

Dr. Khatua was warmly welcomed by Shiny Dominic, Managing Director of Krishi Jagran, and M C Dominic, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Krishi Jagran. Following this, a brief video showcased Krishi Jagran's journey from inception to the present, emphasizing its achievements and the impact of the MFOI Awards in recognizing progressive farmers nationwide.

Addressing the audience, Dr. Amarendra Khatua highlighted that Krishi Jagran is actively involved in various agricultural initiatives across three key areas. He emphasized the importance of enhancing agricultural media literacy among India's farming community and influencing policy with innovative ideas. Moreover, he underscored the increasing importance of agricultural applications, related knowledge and their interlinkages for the upcoming centuries.

He commended Krishi Jagran's initiatives, highlighting its important role in uplifting the farming community nationwide. Concluding his speech, he expressed happiness in associating with Krishi Jagran and promised continued support.

More About Dr Amarendra Khatua

  • Dr Amarendra Khatua, belongs to Indian Foreign Service, 1981 Batch. In his diplomatic career, he has held varied positions in the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian Missions abroad. At the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, he has worked in different capacities in key Divisions that include Finance, Administration, Northern Division, and Latin America Division. He has also served in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Planning Commission, and Ministry of Industry. He has held the positions as Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations; Dean, Foreign Service Institute, and also held the post of Secretary (Special Assignment) in the Ministry of External Affairs. He managed Trade and Economic wings in various Indian Missions including Madrid, Mexico City, Karachi, Moscow, and New York.

  • He was Ambassador of India to Argentina with concurrent Accreditation to Uruguay and Paraguay from 2012 to December 2015, Ambassador of India to Cote D’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and concurrently Ambassador to Guinea and Liberia High Commissioner of India to Sierra Leone from 2005-2007. He has also served as special envoy to South Sudan and Sudan to broker peace between the two countries. He also served as Secretary (Special Assignment) in Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. He is the Director and Founder Member of MIICCIA now.
